Magento 2.4.6 Features

Security fixes and improvements

Did you know that 80% of incidents in eCommerce stores occur due to security breaches that have already been resolved in new versions? Adobe is continuously working to provide merchants with a completely secure platform.

The new version of Magento 2.4.6 includes 8 fixes and other security improvements to the platform. These same fixes have been resolved in the versions of Adobe Commerce 2.4.5 and Adobe Commerce 2.4.4.

Other additional security improvements include optimizing compliance with the latest security best practices, such as:

  • Correction of errors in the logs of management actions.
  • Correction of the error in the reCAPTCHA validation that no longer fails when unexpected errors occur during payment processing.

Platform improvements

With the release of each new version, the platform may experience significant improvements.

The version of Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 is compatible with PHP 8.2, while PHP 8.1 will continue to be compatible. However, support for PHP 7.4 has been removed in this new version, so you won't be able to run Adobe Commerce on PHP 7.4.

On the other hand, Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 will now support:

  • Composer 2.2.x
  • Redis 7.0.x.: Adobe recommends implementing the new version with Redis 7.0.x because although Redis 6.2 will continue to be compatible, it will stop working in April 2024.
  • Open Search will be compatible for Cloud and On-Premises implementations.
  • Elasticsearch 8.x
  • MariaDB 10.6 (LTS version). This version will continue to be compatible with MariaDB 10.4, but Adobe recommends upgrading to MariaDB 10.6.

Some other upgrades and replacements include:

  • Migration of the DHL scheme from version 6.2 to version 10.0.
  • Updating JavaScript libraries to their latest versions and removing outdated dependencies.
  • Updating Symfony dependencies to the new version of LTS.
  • The components of the Zend technology that have reached the end of their useful life have been removed from the code base.
  • Updating Laminas dependencies to support PHP 8.2.

Performance and scalability improvements

In terms of performance and scalability, the latest version of Magento/Adobe Commerce 2.4.6 includes:

  • Improve the performance of operations involving more than 100 customer segments thanks to a new configuration.
  • New system configuration to limit the number of products displayed in the product grid and improve their performance.
  • Improved import performance up to 100,000 records per minute.
  • Improved processing of high-performance orders for customers with cloud infrastructure.

Braintree

Magento 2.4.6 introduces the following Braintree improvements:

  • The Pay Later button and messages option have been enabled for Italy and Spain.
  • PayLater messaging was enabled with Paypal Vault.
  • Fraud Protection and ACH web links were added.
  • An LPM web link has been added.

GraphQL performance improvements

Performance improvements for GraphQL include:

  • Improved response times when querying categories with category permissions enabled.
  • Optimizing the performance of category tree processing in GraphQL.
